Tripper has been painting in 3D since 1999 taking advantage of Chromadepth 3D technology. It's unique color based approach allows Tripper to paint rich images without using a blurry separated image.
Under various names including "Wow Wee Zow Wee" and most lately "Ice Cream Truck Face" Dungan has made music and puppets and performed shadow puppets around the pacific NW including such notable institutions as Evergreen and Reed colleges. He pulls from dowop and vintage videogame music as well as old children's records to create an intriguing if not avant-garde experience. Tripper reports "one audience member came up to me after being dragged to one of my shows to tell me he thought it was going to be annoying characters telling dumb jokes, but it was like nothing he had ever seen or heard and he wanted more."
"The Real Story of Ruth the Tooth" promises to be a different kind of children's book with multiple elements that can be enjoyed separately or together. The story is told in a familiar classic style that doesn't assume anything about its audience. The only thing this book asks is that you are ready for a unique and wonderful experience.
Tripper Dungan is a visual artist from Portland Oregon who is currently self publishing a 3D children's book with a read along vinyl record. His style and sensibility are reminiscent of the golden age of cartoons and vintage character advertising, which compliments the quality and weathering of the salvaged materials he works with. This makes The Real Story of Ruth the Tooth a perfect jumping off point for Dungan. It combines his aforementioned sensibilities with the story telling chops he gained from his years as a shadow puppeteer.
